Permanent Partial Disability (PPD)

PPD or Permanent Partial Disability is the coverage given under the group personal accident policy. The benefit offered is like permanent total disablement but in this scenario, the disablement is only partial and not total but is irrecoverable. In case of an accident, the policyholder shall be compensated as per the benefits table which varies from Insurer to Insurer. The disability should last for 180 days minimum before the eligibility can be considered for the applicable benefit.

Few examples of Permanent Partial Disability cases are loss of a leg, loss of hearing in one ear,  Loss of one eye, loss of one toe finger etc. Here the percentage of coverage generally starts from 5% of the sum insured and can go up to 100% of the base sum insured depending on the level of functional disability.
